Air Inlet: The compressed air containing moisture and water vapor enters the filter through an inlet connection. This is usually located upstream from the equipment or system that requires clean and dry air.

Coalescing Filtration: Inside the filter, the compressed air flows through a coalescing filter element. This element is designed to capture and condense water vapor and moisture droplets present in the air. The coalescing filter element consists of layers of specialized materials that encourage the merging of fine water droplets into larger ones.

Separation: As the water droplets coalesce, they become heavier and settle at the bottom of the filter housing due to gravity. Many filters include a drain at the bottom to allow collected water to be drained periodically. Some filters have automatic drains that open intermittently to release accumulated water.

Dry Air Outlet: The now cleaner and drier compressed air continues to flow through the filter and exits the housing through the outlet connection. This dry air can then be supplied to pneumatic tools, machines, or other equipment that requires it.

Key features and benefits of using a moisture line filter include:

Prevention of Corrosion: Moisture in compressed air can lead to corrosion in pipes, valves, and equipment. A moisture line filter helps prevent this by removing water vapor from the air.

Enhanced Equipment Performance: Pneumatic equipment operates more efficiently and reliably with dry air. Moisture-free air reduces the risk of malfunction due to water-related issues.

Product Quality: In industries such as food and beverage or pharmaceuticals, dry air is essential to maintain product quality and prevent contamination.

Reduced Maintenance: Using a moisture line filter can extend the life of pneumatic equipment and reduce maintenance needs by minimizing the impact of moisture-related wear and damage.
